Detailed analysis with a commercial purpose

We take on a limited number of matters so that each receives sustained attention. You work directly with the advisers responsible for the analysis and the recommendations.

Understand the objective

We begin by understanding the business, the arrangement and the decision you need to make. The objective may be to secure payment, protect control, keep a project moving or bring a relationship to an orderly end. That objective gives the work its direction.

Examine the detail

We read the operative documents closely and test the account against the records. We distinguish established facts from assumptions and identify the gaps that matter. Conflicting versions and missing evidence are addressed before they become the foundation of advice.

Choose the course

We assess the available routes against the legal position and commercial consequences. Our recommendation explains the principal risks and what would change our view. If the proposed course is unsupported or disproportionate, we say so.

Plan the next steps

We consider the order in which issues should be addressed, the information needed and the points at which a commitment or concession is justified. In a dispute, that includes anticipating the counterparty’s likely response. In a contract, it includes identifying the protections that must survive negotiation.

Stay close to the client

We agree how we will communicate and keep you informed as the position develops. Material decisions are explained before action is taken. You should know what we recommend, why it matters and what you need to decide.

Scope and fees

The initial conversation is free. If we can assist, we identify the material needed to define the instruction and provide a written fixed-fee proposal. It sets out the work, deliverables, timing, assumptions and payment terms.

Work begins once the engagement terms are agreed and the required initial payment is received. If the scope changes, we explain the effect and agree any additional work and fee before proceeding. We do not charge a percentage of recovery or offer contingent fees.

Accepting an instruction

We accept a matter only where its demands and timetable fit our capacity. Where specialist technical advice or an authorised legal provider is required, we identify that need and agree how the work should be coordinated.
